APW - Hamilton, Model 22 "chronometer watch," deck watch with winding indicator, 21J, "U.S. Navy - Bu. Ships - 1943" marked mvt, 35S, chrome-plated base metal original case with contract markings to rear, screw back and inner snap cuvette, original silvered dial, SW-SS with safety pin to release setting (depress pin in order to pull out stem), mono-metallic balance with Elinvar hairspring, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#2F24402. Comes with its original fitted wooden Hamilton box with upper plaque describing safety setting mechanism operation.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Ticking somewhat sluggishly, good winding indicator function, good safety setting mechanism function, overhaul recommended, mvt with some looseness within case as case screws are missing, otherwise excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some subtle haze spotting to areas of plates; nearly flawless dial with few light contact marks, some perimeter rub under bezel; case shows hardly any wear, few fine to micro-fine scratches to rear, very small nick to left edge of bezel, no dents or dings, superb contract marking detail; crown shows very little wear; plastic crystal with few mild fine scratches; box shows very little wear, some typical exterior scratches and dings; good latch function though top and bottom leaving a significant gap at front-right when closed.
